Mary Jo Jennings

August 30, 1932 — October 8, 2024

Pine Knoll Shores

Mary Jo Jennings, 92, of Pine Knoll Shores, a remarkable artist and craftsman, left this world on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at The Crystal Coast Hospice House, surrounded by the warmth of her loving family. Born on August 30, 1932, in Camden, NJ, Mary dedicated her life to creating beauty through her crafts, charming all who encountered her unique creations.

Mary's talent was matched only by her kind and loving spirit. She could bring joy to any space with her artwork, which she shared and sold to those who appreciated the heart and soul poured into each piece. Her creativity flourished throughout her life, and she found great fulfillment in making and designing crafts that touched the hearts of many.

Completing 16 years of school, Mary cherished her educational journey while cultivating a passion for creativity that would define her career. More than just an artist, she was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose love and affection radiated through her family.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 72 years, George Roger Jennings, who stood by her side through the good and the bad, taking care of her throughout her time of need  until she took her last breath on this earth, as well as her dear sister, Ellen Ketterer of Florida, and sister-in-law, Debi Proudfoot of Florida. Mary was especially proud of her children: Jennifer Glover from Florida, Duane Jennings from Virginia, and Stephanie Green and husband Ricky from Virginia. Her love extended gracefully to her grandsons, Christopher Green and his wife Chelsea from Virginia, Graham Glover and Jackson Glover from Florida, and to her two cherished great-grandchildren, Grayson and Ainsley.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Alice Proudfoot, and her brother, Joseph Henry IV. While they are no longer with us, their memories live on through Mary's artistry and the legacy of love she leaves behind.

The world may seem a bit dimmer without Mary Jo Jennings, but her vibrant spirit, creative essence, and the love she infused into everything she did will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege to know her.
