Obituary A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, September 12, 2017, in the Brooks Chapel in Brooks Funeral Home, 201 Professional Circle, Morehead City. Pastor Jack Mumford of Otway Christian Church will officiate. Mary Ann was born on October 21, 1920 in Augusta Center, NY, to George and Elizabeth Parker Bloomfield. On December 7 1941 (Pearl Harbor Day) she was engaged to Raymond Verch Jr. The couple was married March 17, 1942. She devoted herself to her family as a homemaker until 1965, when she began working for the Albany Medical Center in the radiology department. At the age of 45, she attended Business College to become a secretary in the department, working until her retirement in 1982. In 1984 she and her husband moved to Pine Knoll Shores, NC and later moved to Morehead City where she resided until her death. She is survived by her sons Raymond Lawrence "Larry" Verch and wife Dorothy "Dotty" of Westerlo, NY and Bryan Darryl Verch and wife Lynell of Mashallberg, NC; her grandchildren Brent D. Verch, Aimee Verch Nord, Alita OMalley, Kevin Hancock and Toni Hancock Meyer; her great grandchildren, Emily Verch, Nicholas Hancock, Samantha Meyer, Freddie Meyer, Sara OMalley and Sean OMalley; her nephew Kevin Bloomfield of Concord, NC and several nieces and nephews residing in NY State. The family will receive guests at Brooks Funeral Home, on Tuesday, September 12th at 10:30 AM immediately prior to the memorial service. In addition to her parents; her husband, Raymond Verch, Jr.; her brother, Parker Bloomfield; and her sister Irene Bloomfield Travis preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to Otway Christian Church, 242 Gillikin Road, Beaufort, NC 28516 Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Home and Crematory of Morehead City.
