Obituary Margaret Grace Osterhoudt Baran, 93, passed away on June 28, 2018 in Morehead City, NC. She was born in Kingston, NY on October 7, 1924 to the late Frederick S. Osterhoudt and Grace Churchill Osterhoudt. She married Walter Baran, Jr. on April 20, 1947. They lived in Kingston, New Rochelle, Batavia, Trumansburg and Fayetteville all in New York State. In 1999 following the death of her husband Margaret moved to Pinehurst, NC where she lived until 2015 when she moved to Morehead City to be near family. She is survived by her loving family, son Jeffrey and wife Judy Revelle Baran of Pine Knoll Shores, NC and daughter Jane Ann Baran Wells and her husband David of Potsdam, NY and daughter-in-law Paula Reynolds Baran. Margaret has six grandchildren, Jacob David Wells and wife Karen Helga Johnson Wells, Abbe Grace Wells Theodore and husband James, Anastasia Catherine Wells Thomas and husband Jason, Emily Baran Prohovich and husband Byron, Diana Baran Kromka and husband Eamon, and Grace Aslan Baran. She is the great grandmother of Solomon and Yibeltal Wells, Grace and Christos Theodore, Tristin and Levi Thomas, Hazel and Olivia and Rhett Prohovich, and Trinity and Eleanor Kromka. She is predeceased by her husband Walter and her son Peter Michael Baran as well as her sister Phyllis Osterhoudt Cox. Margaret was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed golf, knitting, bridge and extensive reading. She was a world traveler and enjoyed visits to friends and family. She was cherished by her family and adored by her grandchildren and great grandchildren alike. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, NY and later the Congregational Church of Southern Pines, NC. Memorial donations may be made to Hope Mission, 1410 Bridges Street, Morehead City, NC 28557 or Marion Medical Mission, 1412 Shawnee Drive, Marion, IL 62959. Visitation will be held at The Brooks Funeral Home, 201 Professional Circle in Morehead City from 3-5PM on Sunday, July 1.
