Margaret Harger

Obituary Margaret Lowery Harger, 78, of Newport, died Saturday, February 6, 2016, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House, Newport. A memorial service will be held 3:00 pm Thursday, February 11, 2016, at St James United Methodist Church, with the pastor, the Rev. Tom Supplee officiating. Margaret Lowery Harger, born July 15, 1937 in her beloved England. She moved to the U.S. in 1961 and married Tom Bell of Carteret County. They moved to New Bern and Tom died in 1981. Margaret lived for many years in New Bern and married Art Harger in 1985. After Margaret retired from Mills TV in New Bern, they moved to Newport. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was a tremendous advocate of all animals, especially dogs and cats, many of which she frequently tried to rescue. She is survived by her daughter, Judi Brewer and husband Frank of Newport and close family friend and caregiver, Michele Maier. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Bell, her beloved son Russell Bell and her second husband Art Harger. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
