Margaret Anne Paul Merrick

Obituary Margaret Anne Paul Merrick, age 88, of Beaufort, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay, Sea Level. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Ocean View Cemetery, Beaufort, with Rev. Michael Fields officiating. Mrs. Merrick was born June 19, 1927, in Beaufort to Halsey D. and Margaret Skarren Paul. She is survived by her children, Dr. Anne Merrick Pinkerton of Norfolk, VA; Dr. H. Curtiss Merrick, III, and Capt. Malcomb Paul Merrick, both of Beaufort; Jean Merrick Miller, of Chesapeake, VA; and 5 grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Merrick was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. H. Curtiss Merrick, Jr., a brother, Halsey D. Paul, Jr., and sister, Helen D. Paul. The family extends special thanks to the devoted staff of Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay, who so lovingly cared for Mrs. Merrick for many years. The family will receive friends after the service at a reception at the Sanitary Restaurant, 501 Evans Street, Morehead City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Beaufort, 403 Ann Street, Beaufort, NC 28516.
