Obituary Louise Williams, 91, of Newport, passed away Monday, September 7, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015, at St. James United Methodist Church in Newport with Pastor Tom Supplee officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Newport. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a faithful servant and longstanding member of St. James United Methodist Church serving the Lord in many capacities throughout the years. She served the church and community with dedication at the St. James Thrift Shop. She was a homemaker and talented seamstress. Also, she worked at Newport Developmental Center for many years. She is survived by her children, son, Nick Williams and wife, Mary Anne, of OFallon, Illinois, daughter, Becky Lathrop of Mathews, Virginia, daughter Nova Austin and husband, Donald Austin, of Newport, NC; daughter-in-law, Angela Williams of Chesapeake, VA; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Also, brothers James B. Smith and wife, Esther, of Newport and Larry Smith and wife, Myrna, of Newport. She was preceded in death by her husbands, George Nicholas Ficho and Lewis Roy Williams, a son Michael Lewis Williams, her sister, Minnie Thrower, and son-in-law, David Lathrop, Sr. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 11:00 a.m. Flowers are welcome or a donation may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Team at St. James United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 250, Newport, NC 28570 or the charity of ones choice.
