Lou Millo Cacal, 84, of Newport, passed away on November 5, 2024, in Morehead City, North Carolina. Born on June 18, 1940, Lou dedicated much of his life to service, both as a member of the US Navy and in civil service at Cherry Point.
Lou is survived by his son, Brad Cacal of Jacksonville; daughter, Shelia Bataller (Tomas C.) of Semnes, AL; seven grandchildren, Emilee, Alyssa, Austin, Stacy Purdon, Londyn, Levi, Andrew Neal Bataller; two sisters, Teresa Jardinez of Bristol, RI, Carmen Budnick of Warren, RI; and one brother, Edy Cacal of West Greenwich, RI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Marcela C.; Wife, Martha J. Cacal; brothers, Jose and Roly Cacal; and sister, Elena Sinues.
A retired veteran, Lou was deeply involved with the Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point Chapel, reflecting his commitment to his fellow servicemen and women. His life outside of service was marked by a love for fishing, a hobby that provided him with many peaceful days and cherished memories.
A service to honor Lou's life will be held at Noe-Brooks Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at 2:00PM. His legacy of service and devotion to his family will be remembered by all who knew him.
