Lois Jones

Obituary Lois Baily Jones, 88, of Cedar Point, died Saturday, October 17, 2015, at her home. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at 2:00 pm at Brooks Funeral Home, with Dr. Edward Gunter officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the Jones Cemetery in Cedar Point. Mrs. Jones was born May 8, 1927, in Morehead City, the daughter of Helen and Waldron Bailey, Jr. She attended Charles S. Wallace School, graduating in 1944, and took the one-year business course at Womans College, Greensboro. Lois worked for the Daily News in Miami, Florida and at Navy Supply Shipping at Cherry Point. In 1950, she married John Robert Jones of Cedar Point, and has made her home there ever since. She has helped her husband in whatever projects that she could, including Jones Earthmoving and Construction, Cedar Point Dredging Company, Inc., and Silverdale Marl Co., Inc., a quarry operation at Silverdale in Onslow County. They started the Cedar Point Property Owners Association which was the forerunner of the establishment of the Town of Cedar Point. Loiss joy was studying comparative religions and philosophy. She has been a member of the Methodist and Baptist churches. She and her husband provided a building and minister to help establish the Unity Church of Cedar Point which later moved to Morehead City. A special thank you to caregivers, Marian Hunter, Bridgette Shermer, Peggy Bryant, and Ashley Wilcoxson, for their compassionate, considerate, and loving care given to Lois during her last years. She is survived by her brother, Dykeman Waldron Buddy Baily, III of Morehead City and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Jones.
