Obituary Lois Marlene Duncan, 72, of Newport died Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Carteret General Hospital, Morehead City. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Dennis Pollock, pastor of Tees Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, Smithfield, NC, officiating. Ms. Duncan was born March 12, 1942, in Mason, WV, to William Robert and Margaretta Harris Duncan. She was a Legal Assistant for several law offices in this area over her lifetime. She is survived by her daughters, Sonya Deese Strunk, Tonya Deese Doshier, and husband Karl, all of Newport; her son, Ronald L. Deese II and wife, Traci, of Morehead City; sister, Karen Sue Miller, of Avon Park, FL; 5 grandchildren, Ryan Strunk, Brandon Doshier and his fianc Loni Goodwin , Lauren Boyd, and husband Jason, Destiny Deese and Tripp Deese; 3 great-grandchildren, Grayden Boyd, Byker Strunk and Addisyn Boyd and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, her son-in-law, George Strunk, her sister, Ila Jean Watson, and her brothers, Harry Duncan, William Robert Duncan, Jr., precede her in death. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday night from 6 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Loiss name to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
