Linda Lawrence Holden, 77, of Newport, passed away on Wednesday, February19, 2025 at her home.
Linda spent her early years in Chicago before moving to Hypoluxo, Florida, where she completed high school in Lantana. She began her nursing education at Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, North Carolina, where she met the love of her life. She later completed her degree at Johnston Community College in Smithfield, North Carolina. Linda specialized in Neonatal Intensive Care and joined Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. When Carteret General Hospital expanded its birthing wing, she was recruited as assistant director. As she neared retirement, she took on various roles within the hospital, including working in the day surgery unit, teaching continuing education courses, and serving as a greeter at the front desk.
Beyond her career, Linda was deeply engaged in her community. She served on the board of the local Domestic Violence Program for several years and was actively involved with the Republican Women at local, state, and national levels. She was also a dedicated member of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
Linda cherished time with her family and enjoyed playing bridge with friends. Her warmth and dedication to service touched many lives.
While there are no more "maybe’s," those who knew Linda take comfort knowing she is reunited with "my Jack," enjoying the best seat for every NASCAR race and Washington football game. May her memory bring peace to all who loved her.
