Leola "Jo" Larsen

Leola “Jo” Larsen beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother passed away peacefully at home on April 19, 2025.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Noe Brooks Funeral Home Chapel in Morehead City with Reverend Ben Wolfe officiating. There will be a visitation from 12:45-1:45 p.m. Burial will take place at Live Oak Memorial Gardens in Charleston, S.C.

She was born in Bayshore, NY to parents, Bertha & Dwight Holmes. Leola married her husband of 64 years Olaf “John” Larsen on August 26, 1951. To our family and many more, they were known as Jo & John or Gram & Poppy, they set the bar and example of what true love and living for one another truly was!!!

Leola all be it short in stature (4’6”) was a giant in everyone’s heart from her days of running the church daycare program at the First Congregational Church of Bayshore to her time spent in Charleston, SC and Crystal Coast, NC.

Leola is now nestled in Heaven’s warmth with her parents, Bertha & Dwight; husband, Olaf, sister, Dorothy; and brothers, Clifford, Clarence, Alfred, Fred & Charles.

Leola leaves to live in her guidance and memory, a sister, Mildred; daughters, JoAnn and husband, Donald, Susan and husband, Richie; grandchildren, Eric, Michael, Lori, Raymond and Douglas, and spouses; great-grandchildren, Erica, Christopher, Meghan, Masyn, McKenzie, Alanna, Kody, Joey, Michelle, Skylar, Taylor, Anna, JP, Cathryn, Sophia and Alex and spouses; and a great-great-grandchild, Cheyenne.

The family would like to give a very special thank you to Gram’s special people Teresa and Jodi “JoJo”. Teresa is gram’s grand daughter-in-law, and was Gram’s voice and truly “her person”. The love Gram had for Teresa was like no other, she looked for her every day. Gram’s mornings always started with a “Teresa Good Morning”. Jodi was a true blessing over the last months and Gram loved her deeply and was so happy every day she came to see her.

In lieu of flowers or donations, please take the opportunity to spend time with your family and celebrate life and each other exactly what Gram and Poppy would want us to do.
