Lena Willis

Obituary Lena Hyatt Willis, 75, of Newport, died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at her residence. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Forest Oaks Memorial Gardens, Havelock with Bret McNeill officiating. Mrs. Willis was born in Wilson on December 3, 1938 to Ben C. and Ruth Daughtry Newsome. She worked for 42 years as a home health care nurse for Gentiva Home Health Care, formerly Tarheel Home and Health Care. She was a loving and caring person and will be remembered for her generosity. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. Lena was a loving wife, mother, and Nanny. She had a way of making everything around her beautiful. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Willis; two daughters, Lisa Hyatt of Morehead City and Linda H. Davis, and husband, Gary, of Cove City; stepson, Randy Willis, and wife, Debbie, of Port Saint John, Florida; and two grandchildren, Nathan Green and Noel Hall, and her husband, J. B. In addition to her parents, her two brothers, Ben Newsome and Glaucus R. Newsome preceded her in death. The family will receive friends at the home on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2202 Wrightsville Avenue, Suite 111, Wilmington, NC 28403.
