Lee Mccarthy Salter

Lee “Mac” McCarthy Salter, 81, of Salter Path, passed away at SECU Hospice House January 18, 2024, with wife Amy and daughter Leslie at his side.

Mac was a born and bred tough Carteret County fisherman, he did many things in life to make a living and support his family; Shrimper, clammer, scalloper, and painter. Mac worked over fifteen years with the Fisheries Development Foundation in finding and testing ways to grow shellfish, and in demonstrating to others those alternate ways. He loved to laugh and to make others laugh with quips and corny jokes.

Mac is survived by his wife of over fifty-five years, Amy Dickinson Salter, daughter Leslie Rostedt (Rob), brother – and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and a bucket load of cousins.

As a remembrance, flowers are welcome as would be donations made to SECU Hospice House, Carteret County Humane Society, or Salter Path Methodist Church.

Family welcomes you to visitation at Salter Path Methodist Church at 1:00 PM, with the service to follow at 2:00PM Monday, January 22, 2024.
