Obituary Kristjana Combs, 75, of Newport, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Carteret Health Care. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Havelock. Burial will take place at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Mrs. Combs was born August 24, 1941 in Reykjavik, Iceland to Vilhjalmur Thordarson and Sveinrun Bjarnadottir. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the Labor and Delivery Department at Carteret Health Care for many years. She is survived by three Brothers, Bjarni Vilhjalmurson, Isleifur Vilhjalmurson, Haraldur Magnusson of Iceland, two sisters, Gudrun Wolf of Morehead City, and Loa Gafford, of Georgia, five children, James Maxwell, Jr. of Newport, Vada Lucas of Newport, William Maxwell of New Bern, Robert Maxwell of Newport and John Maxwell of James City; 12 Grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, her husband, Jay Combs preceded her in death.
