Obituary Kathleen "Kathy" Hill Hamilton, 65, of Beaufort passed away peacefully following a brief illness on Sunday, September 4, 2016, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, NC. The family will receive friends at the Brooks Funeral Home on Thursday, September 8th from 6:00 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held the next morning at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 9, at Ocean View Cemetery (1401 Ann Street, Beaufort) with the Rev. Rusty Willis officiating. Kathy was born November 23, 1950 in the "Promise Land" of Morehead City to Patricia Willis Hill and Robert Harold Hill. She attended Morehead City Elementary School and West Carteret High School where she graduated with the class of 1969. She graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1973 and has always been a lifelong loyal Tar Heel fan. Kathy began her career as an elementary school teacher in 1973 at Beaufort Middle School. She married Bob Hamilton of Beaufort, NC in 1977. Active in the Carteret Historical Research Association, she researched and co-edited the comprehensive "Heritage of Carteret County" local history book first published in 1982. Always the consummate mother and homemaker, she also worked with the family business at Hamilton Furniture in Beaufort, NC and was a co-owner of Americas Mattress Stores in Morehead City, New Bern and Greenville. She is survived by her husband, Robert Hamilton; mother, Patricia Hill of Morehead City; daughter, Robin Hamilton Connell and husband Brad of Beaufort; son, Bryan Hamilton and wife Kindra of Morehead City; sister, Sandy Hill of Birmingham, AL; nephews, Benjamin Hill of Atlanta, GA and Patrick Hill of Tampa, FL and grandchildren, Ila Grace Hamilton, Mary Ann Connell, James Andrew Connell, and Miles Hamilton. Lifelong friends include Carol Akerley Minton of Raleigh, Margaret Roberts Jacobsen of Fayetteville, AR, Patty Murdoch of Morehead City and Patricia Howland of Raleigh, NC She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Christopher Andrew Hamilton; her father, Robert Harold Hill and her brother, Robert "Buddy" Hill, Jr. Prior to his passing, Kathys son Christopher was the lucky recipient of a cruise to Cozumel and Key West from the Make-a-Wish Foundation. It meant the world to Christopher, Kathy, and the rest of the family.
