Obituary Kathleen Owens Beachem, 99, of Morehead City, died Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at Harborview Rehab and Healthcare, Morehead City. A memorial service will be on Monday, October 30, 2017, at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, Beaufort, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Michael Singer officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Beachem was born in Craven County on January 16, 1918, to William Franklin and Ada Huff Simpson. Before her retirement she worked as an LPN at Carteret General Hospital and as a teachers assistant at Beaufort Elementary School. She is survived by her son, Jimmy W. Owens, and wife, Liz, of Jacksonville; daughter, Ann Lewis, of New Bern; daughter-in-law, Betty Owens Watson, half-brothers, Terry Equils and Roy Lee Equils; half-sister, Mary Douglas; grandchildren, Lisa Patterson, Eddie Owens, and wife, Ashley, Mary Pollard, Willie F. Lewis, III, and wife, Lisa, Kathy Woodson, and husband, Shawn, Tommy Oglesby, and wife, Tammy, David Oglesby, Paul Oglesby and wife, Sabrina, Temperance Underhill, and husband, Greg, Allison Kearney, Kelly Owens, Clyde P. Owens, Jr., John Michael Owens, and Gianna Laura Owens; 24 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. The family will greet friends after the service at the church. In addition to her parents, Kathleen is preceded in death by her husbands, Clyde M. Owens and Roland C. Beachem; her daughter and son-in-law, Ada Sue Canup and husband, Rodney; her sons, Clyde P. Owens and Johnny A. Owens and his wife, Bianca; son-in-law, Willie F. Lewis II; brothers, Harry Simpson, Bill Simpson, and Frank Simpson; sisters, Margaret Simpson and Eloise Simpson; granddaughter, Beth Ann Oglesby; grandson-in-law, Donnie Patterson and great granddaughter, Abbie Worth Patterson. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 215 Ann Street, Beaufort, NC 28516 or a charity of ones choice.
