Obituary Karl Conrad Falger, 96, of Newport, formerly of Somerset, NJ, died Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Carteret General Hospital. He was born in New Brunswick, NJ, on December 23, 1917, to Carl and Susan Decker Falger. He served in the United States Army during WWII from June of 1941 until he was discharged as a First Lieutenant in 1946. He participated in an Honor Flight in 2010. He worked as a Lineman/Manager for New Jersey Bell Telephone Company for 33 years and moved to Morehead City when he retired in 1980. He received his GED from Carteret Community College in 1997 and was a member of the Adjunct Faculty at Carteret Community College for 5 years, teaching boat engine repair and boat building. He was active at the Leon Mann Enrichment Center for the last 4 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 14 years, Edna Grosser Falger; their daughter, Carol; his brother, John Falger and sister, Margaret Bussey. His wife of 49 years, Mary Jane VanHorn Falger passed away in 2011. Mr. Falger is survived by his two daughters, Stephanie Stillman and husband, Richard, of Winchester, MA and Abigail Jablonski of Morehead City; grandson, Taylor Stillman and wife, Gia, great-granddaughter, Adeline, and great-grandson, Kai, all of Ipswich, MA. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home for a Remembrance Gathering on Saturday, June 28, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. Taps will be played at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Leon Mann, Jr. Enrichment Center, 3820 Galantis Drive, Morehead City, NC 28557, where he spent many happy hours.
