Julia Sebes

Obituary Julia Sebes, 99, passed away peacefully on May 28th, 2018 at Twin Oaks Health and Rehab in Lansing, Kansas. Julia was born on August 29th, 1918 in Beaufort, North Carolina. Her parents were Samuel Alonzo Thomas and Mary Whitford Thomas. She met her future husband, Joseph D. Sebes, when he was stationed at Fort Macon. Julia and Joe were married on August 3rd, 1942 just two weeks prior to his deployment overseas to fight in the war. She did not see him again until the war in Europe ended in May 1945. They then went on to live in several locations, raise a family, and retire back to Beaufort in 1978. Julia is survived by her son Joseph D. Sebes, Jr (Mickey), of Lansing, Kansas, Grandchildren Joseph D. Sebes, III of Wilmington, NC, John M. Sebes (Mary) of Pismo Beach, CA, Kathryn Anne Sebes of Leander, TX and great grandchildren Michael Tristan Sebes and Graham Joseph Sebes. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her parents, her son Samuel T. Sebes and her sister Sydney Richmond. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 27th, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Beaufort on June 28th, 2018 at 11 AM with the Rev. Mary Ogus officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
