Obituary Joyce Lanell Riggs, 71, of Newport, NC, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. Mrs. Riggs was born in Morehead City, NC to Donald Brooks and Edith Gillikin Brooks. She spent most of her childhood in the Otway and Beaufort, NC communities and later relocated to Newport, NC with her husband of 43 years. She is survived by her husband Marvin Holt Riggs of Newport; one son Marvin Lee Riggs and wife Veronica, of Greenville; one daughter Stormy Haskett and husband Daniel of Morehead City, NC ; one grandson Matthew Xavier Riggs of Greenville. The family will celebrate her life and receive family and friends at a private event. The family wishes to thank the Vidant CICU Medical Staff and the East Carolina Heart Institute in Greenville, NC for the care and heartfelt compassion that they provided. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Home and Crematory of Morehead City.
