Joseph 'Joe' Pressly, Jr

Obituary Joseph "Joe" Earl Pressly, Jr., 76, of Morehead City, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at his home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, Morehead City, with the pastor, Rev. Tim Havlicek officiating. Joe was born in Kinston, NC, to Mariana Rochelle and Joseph Earl Pressly. He was educated at Christ School and East Carolina University. He had a long career in banking in Raleigh, Goldsboro, Mt. Olive, and Morehead City. Spare time was spent enjoying his family and many friends, hunting, fishing, and carving decoys. Joe lived his life committed to leadership in his church and civic organizations. Joe is survived by his wife, Grace Gwaltney Pressly, sister, Sissy Weil, and husband, Louis; two brothers, Tommy Pressly, and wife, Laura; and Jimmy Pressly, and wife, Theresa; brother-in-law, Eddie Gwaltney, and wife, Sally. He is also survived by three daughters, Maridene Harper, Ashley Koontz and Paige Fuqua; two sons, Randall Payne and Kevin Payne; 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and many other special family members and friends who are fondly remembered. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his siblings, Margaret Linda and Richard Allen Pressly. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials in Joes memory be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 1604 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC 28557 or to Pruitt Health and Hospice, 810 Kennedy Avenue, New Bern, NC 28560.
