Jonathan 'Jonny' Appell

Obituary Jonathan Jonny H. Appell, 21, of Beaufort, died August 25, 2015 in New Bern. Services will be private. Jonny was born June 30, 1994, in Huntington, WV, to Jonathan Evan Appell and Margaret Charlene Batten Appell. He is a graduate of East Carteret High School, class of 2012. He loved fishing and being around the water. Jonny especially loved basketball, he participated in many church leagues and played one year for East Carteret High School. Jonny was preparing to return to school to continue his education in marine biology and to become a deep sea field diver. Every time Jonny walked into a room he had a way of lighting up the room and making people smile. He is survived by his parents, Jonathan and Margaret Appell, of Beaufort; a brother, Michael Watts of Huntington, WV; his maternal grandmother, Carol Carter and husband, Daniel, of Vinton, OH; aunt, Laura Appell Sheets, and husband, Scott, of Huntington, WV; uncle, Tim Appell, and wife, Karen, of Proctorville, OH; nieces, Madison Watts, Gabby Sweaney, and Abigail Sheets, of Huntington, WV; nephews, Cameron Watts, Aaron Bills, Max Dellinger and Myles Dellinger, all of Huntington, WV, as well as countless other children who called him Uncle Jonny, and numerous friends, too many to count. He is also survived by a special cousin, Ashley Appell Dellinger, and husband, Joab, of Huntington, WV. He is recently preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Russell Batten. He is also preceded in death by his fraternal grandparents, Helen and Harry Appell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, P.O.
