Obituary Johnny Carroll Norris, 71, of Newport, died Friday, February 26, 2016, at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at the Victory Baptist Church, 1051 Hibbs Road, Newport, with the pastors, the Rev. Roger Whaley, and the Rev Jack Bowen presiding. Mr. Norris was born in Dunn, NC to Isaac and Velma Norris. He served his country in the United States Army and later became a Correctional Sergeant with the NC Division of Prisons. He is survived by his wife, Laura J. Norris of Newport; one son Johnny C. Norris, II, and wife Boyana of Eugene, OR; three grandchildren, Alexander R. Norris, Anna L. Norris, and Anthony J. Norris, all of Eugene OR; two sisters, Verona Altman of Kernersville NC, and Peggy Cawthon of Camden, WV; three sisters-in-law, Louise Norris of Dallas, TX, Patricia Norris of Baltimore, MD, and Suzanne Celey of Benson, NC and numerous nephews and nieces. His parents and seven brothers and sisters, preceded him in death Donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.
