She was a graduate of Womens College of the University of North Carolina, now UNC-Greensboro. It was while working at UNC Dental School that she met the love of her life, Dr. Bob Harned. Jo volunteered with the New Horizons Friendship Club, organizing arts and crafts activities and often cooking meals, and helped with Christmas Cheer and the Ekklesia Spring Luncheons each year; she served on the visitation committee and regularly visited homebound members. She was a woman of strong faith, whose loving, graceful, and joyful personality will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son, Robert J. Harned, Jr. and wife, Tracy; grandsons, which were her pride and joy, Robert Joseph Harned, III and Ian Anderson Harned.
