Jerry Lee Guthrie

Jerry Lee Guthrie, 89, of Harkers Island, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Signature Care of Kinston.

Jerry was a loving father and grandfather, one of his many enjoyments was taking his grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye, to Myrtle Beach. He also enjoyed being on the water and going to get oysters.

He worked for many years in the construction business which led to many different business ventures, the one he was best known for was the movie theatre on Harkers Island, that he owned and operated for many years.

Jerry is survived by his daughters, Melanie Franco (Gerald), Maria Guthrie (Jack) two brothers, Andrew B. Guthrie (Marina) and Sherman Guthrie. Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren, Caroline Franco, Carlos Franco and Leandra Sumrell (Cody), one great granddaughter, Sydney Sumrell.

He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Guthrie, parents, Andrew and Edith Guthrie and brother William “Bill” Guthrie.
