Obituary Jeffrey "Jeff" Nolan Smith age 68 of Salter Path, died Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Carteret Health Care. A memorial service will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Saturday, October 20th at 2:00 pm. The family will greet friends following the service at the Salter Path Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Jeffrey was born in Morehead City to Irvin and Eunice Smith. He grew up working in the family store in Salter Path. He was a commercial fisherman for all his life. In 1987, he and his brother, Spencer Smith, began Smith Fence Works, where they installed fences from one end of Carteret County to the other. He is survived by his wife Beverly of Salter Path; two daughters, Tammy Franklin and Allison Smith, both of Swansboro; one son, Adam Smith and fiancee Melissa Guitard of Salter Path; two sisters June Willis and Patsy Hill, both of Salter Path; a sister-in-law Rebecca Smith, of Salter Path; two grandchildren River Smith and Bayli Horack and husband Matthew; two great grandchildren Emmilee-Ann Horack and Xander Horack; one step grandchild, Piper Guitard; numerous nieces and nephews.
