Jean 'Jeanne' Taylor

Obituary Jeanne Taylor, 79, of Emerald Isle, died June 24, 2017 at Crystal Coast Hospice House, Newport. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Jeanne was born in Mount Airy, MD., to Guy Jesse Leatherwood, and Leone Purdum Leatherwood. While she was working on her Bachelor of Science degree at Western Maryland College, she met Hal Taylor. They married two weeks after their graduation on June 13, 1959. She later received her Masters Degree in Nutrition from East Carolina University. She worked as a food service manager at Purdue University and in the mid 1980s she worked as a clinical dietitian at Carteret General Hospital. Jeanne loved the ocean and playing bridge. She was an ardent sports fan, especially of womens soccer. She is survived by her husband, Harold "Hal" Taylor of Emerald Isle; two sons, Scott M. Taylor and wife Jacqueline, of Long Beach, CA., and B. Michael Taylor and wife Linda, of Providence, RI; one grandson Ryan S. Taylor of Long Beach, CA.
