Jason William King

May 27, 1975 — July 2, 2024

Jason William King, 49, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2024.

Jason William King was full of love, passion, curiosity, adventure, and humor. Jason made it a priority to show the people in his life his love and unconditional support for them, no matter what he was dealing with personally. No matter what time of day or night, he would drop everything to help the people he loved. He had an undeniable passion for teaching others, shown in relationships, and his career as an athlete and coach. During his time at Norwin High School, he played soccer and practiced karate, going on to win the junior Olympics championship in Shotokan karate. His love for athletic coaching began with teaching his two children in various sports and transitioned into coaching soccer in Germany, Michigan, and North Carolina. Though his skills and passion didn’t just stay on the soccer field, Jason was also an extremely skilled craftsman. He loved doing custom work for his clients and had a solution to every problem that would arise during his work. Whether it was a small rip in a carpet or a complete makeover of a room, he could fix it and make it look effortless. Jason was known for his sense of adventure by friends, family, and anyone he met along the ride. He would go out of his way to experience new things, such as traveling across the world to go scuba diving.

Jason loved to take risks and would playfully wrestle sharks and eels in the ocean, making sure to come back home with a good story to tell and pictures to prove it. His love of the ocean, sea life, and photography was so profound that he chose to share it with others by starting his own apparel and photography brand, S.O.B. - Southern Outer Banks. From working long hours, spending hours perfecting a camera shot, to making silly promotional videos on his social media, his dedication and hard work were inspiring to all who knew him. Jason King was an incredible human who gave so much to the world and the people around him. He will always be remembered for his witty humor, his passion for educating others and exploring the world, his love for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers, his pep talks and words of encouragement, and his ability to make anyone feel seen and loved. He will be unbearably missed and loved by everyone.

Jason, born on May 27, 1975, is survived by his son Bailey King, his daughter Jasmine King, his mother Wanda Trout, his father Joseph King, and his siblings David, Michelle and Melinda.

In lieu of flowers, his children request donations be made to the Ocean Conservation (donate.oceanconservancy.org).
