Obituary Janet Potter Robbins, 91, Morehead City, died Friday, May 29, at home in Brandywine Bay, Morehead City, NC. A private memorial service at First United Methodist Church, Morehead City will be held at a later date. Mrs. Robbins is survived by her husband of 68 years, William; daughter, Pamela R. Phillips and husband Walter of Newport; son, Thayer B. Robbins and wife Martha of Darien, Conn.; grandchildren, Kristin R. Wood and husband Garrett, and Jennifer Evans and husband Michael, all of Wilmington, Mary S. Robins of Raleigh, Rebecca S. Robbins and William T. Robbins, both of New York City; and three nephews, Jay and Scott Spradling, both of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Mark Spradling of Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Raymond T. Potter and Margaret Smiley; and sister, Barbara Potter Spradling. Born Feb. 18, 1924, in Orange, N.J., Mrs. Robbins grew up in Orange where her father, an obstetrician and gynecologist, founded the first medical center in the Oranges. Moving to Llewellyn Park, West Orange, in the early 1940s, Mrs. Robbins attended Dearborn Morgan School and Miss Beards School, graduating in 1942. Attending Connecticut College for two years, she was a member of the Womens Auxiliary Ambulance Corp. and worked at ABC Radio in New York City for two years. She married William Brown Robbins in 1946, and they moved to Chatham, N.J. In 1958, when Mr. Robbins started working in New York City, they moved to Darien, Conn. In 1973 they built a home on the ocean in Pine Knoll Shores, and with another home in Green Valley, Ariz., migrated seasonally. Selling the Pine Knoll Shores home in 1988, they bought a home in Alburgh, Vt., on Lake Champlain, continuing their seasonal migration between North Carolina and Vermont until finally settling in Morehead City in 2014. The family deeply appreciates and thanks Dr. Cas Cader and the staff of Crystal Coast Family Practice, Morehead City, and the staff of Hospice of Carteret County. The family also warmly thanks Mrs. Robbins caregivers: Alison Ballou, Whitney Muller, Kathryn Morgan, Wendy Edwards, Kayley Harrell, Jessica Pompa and Cassie Jo Williams.
