Obituary James W. Ickley, 85, of Morehead City, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at home with his wife Rose by his side. A Memorial Mass will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Annunciation Catholic Church, 246 East Main Street, Havelock, NC. James W. Ickley was born February 24, 1933 in Baden, PA to Howard and Agnes Williamson Ickley of Baden, PA. He served four years in the US Navy, worked a lifelong career at Conrail RR in Conway, PA until retirement. Jimmy was a member of the Knights of Columbus and drove a school bus for the Ambridge Area School District for many years. As a car hobbyist of old cars, he loved to buy, fix and sale old cars in his spare time. So many, he was once told to get a Dealers License. He and Rose would go dancing and be the highlight of the dance floor twisting and twirling all night long. Bowling was another interest he pursued on a weekly basis at the Baden Bowling Alley. Family was very important to him as he enjoyed meeting weekly to play penny poker or taking his daughter Vicki to dance or his son Randy to play Redwings football. He also loved listening to music only later to fall asleep in his chair. Jimmy devoted his life to his family while enjoying a camping trip to Lake Erie or to the beach and always made sure the family went on vacations and ate steak every payday. Jim and Rose opened their hearts, and home to the Beaver County Foster Children Program while creating an extended family beyond all expectations. He survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Rose Walter Ickley of Moorehead City, NC. He was a loving father to four children: Randy (Peggy) Ickley of Pamplin, VA, daughters: Vicki (Dan) Blougouras of Merritt Island, FL, and Melissa Ickley (who preceded him in death 2012) and son, Sheldon (Belinda) Simmons and five loving grandchildren Zachary Blougouras, of Merritt Island, FL, Demi Kowalski (Luke) Bishop of Savannah, GA, Dominic Januzzi, Sabrina and Samantha Simmons all of Newport, NC. Jimmy's only brother Bill Ickley of Baden, PA survives him and last but not least, his precious dog, Maddie. Jimmy, a beloved husband, a giving father and kind grandfather and a great friend has blessed all that knew him with his smile and funny stories. May he rest in eternal peace alongside his daughter, Melissa Rose Ickley (2012).
