Obituary James H. Pittman (Jimmy), 82, of Morehead City died Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Carteret Health Care. His funeral service with military honors will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Brooks Funeral Home with Don Arthur and Jerry Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. The interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 29, at Bayview Cemetery. Jimmy was born November 18, 1935 on Lukens Island to the late Robert and Eva Banks Pittman. He lived on Lukens until the family moved to Oriental, NC. Upon finishing school he joined the United States Coast Guard and was stationed at Fort Macon. In 1957 he met and married the love of his life Alice Kay Guthrie from the Promise Land. After serving twenty years in the U. S. Coast Guard, he retired in Morehead City. Jimmy had a great passion for fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Kay and two sons, James Pittman, Jr. and Craig Lewis both of Morehead City; two sisters, Sadie Quidley of New Bern and Dorothy Fleming of Morehead City; two brothers, Bobby Pittman of Greenville, NC and Tommy Pittman of Hickory, NC and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Eva Banks Pittman and a son, Rufus Keith Pittman. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to Franklin Memorial United Methodist Church, 1112 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC 28557.
