MSgt. James “Jim” Henry Montanye USMC (ret), 78, of the Carolina Pines Community and Havelock, NC passed away on February 14, 2025 in Naples, FL.
Jim dedicated 24 years of service to the United States Marine Corps, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. His unwavering commitment to duty and country was a defining part of his life.
A devoted member of All Saints Anglican Church, Jim found strength and community in his faith. He had a deep love for the outdoors and particularly enjoyed hunting. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s ball games, always cheering them on with pride. Winters were spent in Southwest Florida, where he embraced the warm climate and cherished time with friends and loved ones. Among those closest to him was his beloved dog, Charlie, whom his sons always suggested was the “favorite”.
Jim’s presence will be deeply missed by those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who shared in his life.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Monday, February 24, 2025 at All Saints Anglican Church in Newport, NC with Rev. Dave Linka officiating. Inurnment will follow at the church columbarium with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm – 2:45pm at the church.
Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lynn Stuarts Montanye of Havelock; five sons, James A. Montanye of Amarillo, TX; Paul L. Montanye and wife, Jessica of Arapahohe, NC; Matthew L. Montanye and wife, Christy of Richmond Hill, GA; Michael L. Montanye and wife, Tonya of Greenville, NC; Phillip J. Montanye and wife, Nicki of Havelock; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
