James 'Jim' Williams, Jr

Obituary James "Jim" Wadsworth Williams, Jr., 87, of Beaufort, died Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Crystal Coast Hospice House. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, Beaufort, with the Rev. John Carlisto officiating. Inurnment, with Military Honors, will be in the Church Columbarium. Mr. Williams was born January 1, 1930, in Richmond, VA, to James Wadsworth Williams, Sr., and Virginia DuPriest Williams. Raised in Danville, VA, he proudly attended Virginia Military Institute and graduated in the Class of 1953. After serving in the United States Air Force, he took a position with the United States Patent Office in Washington, DC, while attending evening law school at the University of Baltimore. Upon graduation from law school, he began a career as a patent attorney with Monsanto Company, where he remained until his retirement in 1991. Mr. Williams devoted his life to loving and providing for his family. He was an avid and lifelong fisherman and also enjoyed watercolor painting, the Beaufort Ole Towne Rotary Club and 317 meetings of his semi-monthly poker club. He is survived by his daughter, Martha Williams Prideaux, and her husband, Jeff, of Richmond, VA; son, James W. Williams, III, and wife, Susan Nix Williams, of Raleigh, NC, and four grandchildren, Charlie, Henry, John and Caroline. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Ann Johnson Williams, and his brother, William DuPriest Williams. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Parish Hall at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Coastal Carolina Beaufort Club, P. O.
