James Israel

February 9, 1943 — August 15, 2014

Obituary Carson was born on February 9, 1943, in Wilmington, NC. He grew up in Swansboro and graduated from Swansboro High School. Carson truly loved this area and in his youth he took full advantage of the beautiful beaches and the sound. He spent his time boating, water skiing, surfing and swimming and had many fond memories of those times and the people he enjoyed them with. Education was a passion of Carsons and he never wanted to end his quest for learning. Carson earned a B.S. degree from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, a Doctorate of Chiropractic Medicine from Logan College in St. Louis, Missouri, and an M.D. degree from American University of the Caribbean. Because of his love of learning, Carson most enjoyed his time spent teaching. He especially enjoyed his tenure as an instructor at Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa, where he also authored several books. During Carsons later years, he enjoyed woodworking, refinishing antiques, and spending time caring for his yard and garden. His grandchildren have fond memories of their rides on the lawnmower in his yard during which he might also slip them a piece of his favorite chocolate. Carson was a quiet man who could make others laugh with his dry wit and humor. He would readily open his heart to those who might be less fortunate in any way. Carson often expressed his love for his family, and others, by being willing to lend a helping hand. The perfect example of this was seen in his dedication to his mother as an attentive and loving caregiver. Carson will be forever loved and deeply missed by his family and friends. The family would like to express their sincere and deep gratitude to all of the friends and family far and wide who have offered support, love, and prayers during these past 6 months. Words cannot adequately express how grateful they are for the love extended to them by their friends at Cape Carteret Baptist Church, Gramercy Christian School, and Hospice of Carteret County. A memorial service will be held honoring Carsons life at the Cape Carteret Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Clubb officiating on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cape Carteret Baptist Church, 101 Anita Forte Drive, Cape Carteret, NC 28584, Gramercy Christian School, 8170 Highway 70, Newport, NC 28570, or to the Carteret General Hospital Foundation for Hospice/Hope Health Fund, P.O.
