Obituary Jacqueline Sue Collins, 69, of Newport, formerly of Beaufort, died Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Crystal Coast Hospice House. Services will be private. Jacqueline was born in Independence Missouri to Tullus Elbert Gordon and Margaret Elaine Gordon. She worked as a program manager with the Leon Mann Jr. Enrichment Center. She spent her early years as an LPN and later as an RN. Jacqueline attended Graceland College and the University of Iowa where she earned her Bachelors degree in Journalism and went on to earn her Masters degree in Recreational Therapy with the focus on pet therapy for the elderly. Jacque loved animals, nature, poetry, music and making wonderful memories with her grandchildren. She was well loved by the lives she touched. She is survived by her husband John William Collins of Beaufort; one daughter, Cheryl Lynn Kanuck and husband, Jim of Newport; one son, Brian Daniel Hampton of Carolina Beach; one sister, Cheryl Simmons of Marshall, NC; two brothers Fred Beauchamp of Palmyra, VA, and Robert Beauchamp of Edwards, MO; five grandchildren , Hailey Marie Axeen, Anthony Robert Axeen, Aaron Michael Stranathan, Melissa Elaine Kanuck, Joshua Bryce Kanuck; one great-grandchild, Landon Sage Evans, and caregiver, friend and honorary daughter, Kathleen Jackson. Her parents, and two brothers David Gordon, and Ron Gordon, precede her in death.
