J. Richard Jones

Obituary Richard Jones, 92, of Morehead City, formerly of Woodhaven, N.Y. and Old Tappan, N.J. died Thursday, February 16, 2017, at home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 11:00 a.m., Monday February 20, 2017 at St. Egbert Catholic Church in Morehead City, NC with the pastor, the Rev. Thomas R. Davis officiating. Richard was born November 1, 1924, in Woodhaven N.Y. to Harry S. and Edna Anne Jones. He served his country in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He married Virginia H. in the snow of 1948. They were married for 68 years. In 1963 they moved to Old Tappan, NJ where they raised their eight children. Richard was active with the Old Tappan Ambulance Corp. and owned his own Cash Register business in Bronx, N.Y. After he retired they moved to River Bend, and then to Morehead City in 1999. He is survived by his children, Kenneth P. Jones and companion Donna of Sussex, NJ, Robert J. Jones and wife Lorraine of Rivervale, NJ, Irene M. Jones of Newport, NC, Nancy M. DAmico and husband Daniel of Northvale, NJ, Susan R. Pike and husband Thomas of Atlantic Beach, NC, Richard E. Jones and wife Dawn of New Bern, NC, and Andrew P. Jones and companion Harriett of Atlantic Beach, NC. He has 17 beautiful grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia H, Son Peter R Jones, parents, Harry S., and Edna Anne, Siblings, Harry S. Jr., Arthur, and Virginia.
