Iris French

Obituary Iris Davis French, 82, of Beaufort, died Monday, January 19, 2015, at her home. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Beaufort, with the Rev. Michael Fields officiating. Mrs. French was born in Beaufort on April 27, 1932 to the late Uldene Mason Davis and Leslie Charles Davis. She was a faithful lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Beaufort. She retired as an Income Maintenance Supervisor from Carteret County Department of Social Services after serving for many years there helping to meet the needs of those in her community. She is survived by her husband, James E. French; a daughter, Kimberly Lane Johnston and husband, Bill, of Atlanta, Georgia; a son, Hobson Lane and wife, Lisa, of Beaufort; three grandchildren whom she adored, Justin Lane of Beaufort, Sarah Lane of Wilmington, and Will Johnston of Atlanta, Georgia; a brother, Bob Davis and wife, Barbara, of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Carol Chadwick of Beaufort, Daphine Davis of New Bern and Jan Davis of Beaufort; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers: Charles Davis, Billy Davis, Harry Davis, Gordon Davis and James Davis; and four sisters, Evelyn Davis Lewis, Kathryn Davis Jones, Marie Davis Staton; and Jan Davis Sharp. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church, Beaufort, for one hour prior to the service. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.
