Obituary Iris M. Douglas, 80, of Newport, died on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Onslow Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville. Iris was born in Newport News, VA to Iris Eggleston Mitchell, and John Mitchell. She worked as a nurse for most of her life. She is survived by a friend, Catherine Kitty Platt, of Newport. Her parents preceded her in death. There will be a gathering of friends, Thursday, June 12, 2014, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at Brooks Funeral Home.
