Herman Boyd

Obituary Herman Edward Boyd, age 96, resident of Emerald Isle, formally of Goldsboro, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, April 13, 2020 at his home on Emerald Isle, under the care of Community Home Care and Hospice, Swansboro, NC. A private graveside memorial service and interment for immediate family members only will be held on Friday, April 17th at 2:00pm at Providence United Methodist Church in Goldsboro, with Hospice Pastor Patrick Whaley presiding. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time at Chapel by the Sea, Emerald Isle, NC. Herman was born in Goldsboro, NC on July 13, 1923. He and his wife, Helen King Boyd moved to Emerald Isle in 2005. He was lifetime member of Providence United Methodist Church and attended Emerald Isle Chapel by the Sea after his move to the beach. Herman served as a US Army corporal in WWII in the Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a Pepperridge Farm Bread route salesman and owner/operator of Boyd Meats in Goldsboro. Herman is survived by his son, Ernest Jerome (Jerry) Boyd and wife Diane of Garner, daughter, Jo Anne Boyd West and husband, George of Emerald Isle; and a granddaughter, Christa Rae Boyd of Atlanta, GA. Wife of 71 years, Helen King Boyd, Parents; Ernest Jerome and Lillie Mae Boyd, brother James Boyd and sister, Lorene Potter preceded him in death.
