He was born at home on February 9, 1934, as the oldest child of Fletcher and Rena Taylor. Growing up in a farming family with his sisters Esther, Barbara, and Anne, he learned early the importance of family and working hard. He attended grade school in Beaufort, NC. At the age of 16, he became a school bus driver and met his wife Faye, while he was attending high school. They graduated from Beaufort High School and were married for almost 56 years. At the age of 18, Harry was given his first acreage land plot a few miles from his homestead; this was at the heart of his eternal love of the Taylor land. From humble beginnings and with faith in God, Taylor Farms became his passion. He was afforded the opportunity to go into the farming and logging business with his father-in-law Cicero. Harry loved his family and was thankful to be a lifelong member at Oak Grove United Methodist Church. He will be remembered as a friend to many; he was thankful to have, and to be a part of the lives of Billy Whitley and Jimmy Hand. He is survived by his children: HB Taylor Jr., Sharon Taylor Cribb and husband Dwight, Jeffrey Scott Taylor and wife, Jodi. Sisters: Anne Soles and Barbara McKay. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Callie, Kristin, Dana, and Ella Grace and by his great-grandchild Gavin Douglas. In addition to his parents and his wife, Faye, he was preceded in death, by his son, Darryl Denning Taylor and sister, Esther Carraway. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home, Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 pm. The service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, August 18, 2014 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Upon Harrys wishes, he will be lying in state on his beloved homeland at Long Creek Family Campground in Adams Creek from 9:00 - 10:30 am on Monday. All family and friends are welcome.
