Obituary Harriet Bell Thornton, 77, of Morehead City, formerly of Waycross, GA died Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Crystal Coast Hospice House, Newport. A memorial service will be held, 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the Wildwood Presbyterian Church, with the pastor, Rev. Robbie Phillips presiding. Harriet was born on September 19, 1938, in Wilmington, to Lester and Willie Mae Shaw. She worked as a school teacher in the Southern Georgia educational system for 37 years. She is survived by a son, Hilliard O. Thornton, Jr. of Waycross, GA; a daughter, Melanie T. Pollock of Newport; a sister Penny Thomas, of Waycross, GA; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Her parents preceded her in death.
