Grace Deely

Obituary Grace Blackmore Deely, 84, of Beaufort, died Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Carteret Health Care. Her memorial service will be Monday, August 14, 2017, at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, Beaufort, at 3:00 PM, with inurnment in the church columbarium, with Mother Mary Ogus officiating. Grace was born in Mexico City of a British father and an American mother in 1932. They moved to New York in 1934 where she met her husband in elementary school. Following the death of her father the family moved to Asheville, NC. She attended undergraduate school at UNC-Greensboro and earned her degree in Physical Therapy in Iowa under full scholarship. She and Brian M. Deely, Jr. were married at St. Marys Episcopal Church on September 8, 1956. They moved to Raleigh, NC where she worked at Rex Hospital while Brian completed his engineering degree. After the birth of their daughter they moved to Rockville, MD where their son was born. In the early 60s Grace began her pediatric physical therapy career at Easter Seals Treatment Center. At Christ Church Rockville, she and Brian remained active until Brians retirement which time they relocated to the family home in Beaufort, NC. Grace continued to work at local physical therapy facilities and was involved at St. Pauls until her passing. Grace always thought of others, not of herself. She was very service oriented, in all parts of her life, especially in her professional and family life. She had a strong desire to keep family close. Her goal was to bring out the best in people and help expand their horizons. Her interests in extended family, especially Ireland and England were intense, and she made every effort to make contact and stay in touch with them. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara E. Deely, of Beaufort; son, Brian C. Deely, and wife, Nancy, of Purcellville, Va; sister, Jean Anderson of Fort Worth, Texas; 4 grandchildren Bryce Deely Weatherwax, of Columbus, GA, Ryan Deely Salter, of Montauk, NY, Helen Claire Deely and Connor Jane Deely, both of Purcellville, VA; 3 nephews, Charles Edward Anderson, and wife, Sharon, Kenneth Wayne Anderson, and wife, Patricia, and David Allen Anderson, and wife, Donna. The family will receive friends after the service in the Parish House. In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Brian M. Deely.
