George Leach

Obituary George Scott Leach, 89, of Morehead City was called home on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Brooks Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Grayson officiating. George was born March 6, 1927 in North Haledon, NJ to Ernest Eugene and Elsie Angele Leach. He graduated from New Jersey public schools and entered the Army Air Force. He was a veteran of World War II and a life member of the American Legion Post #42 and VFW Post #8986. He graduated from Columbia University in 1951 with an AB degree in Chemistry and was employed by chemical firms in New Jersey and Pennsylvania following which he joined Martin Marietta (later Lockheed Martin) in Mecklenburg County, NC. After retiring, he moved to Morehead City and became active in several local charitable organizations including Friends of Hospice, Ecclesia and Marthas Mission Cupboard. He was a charter member of All Saints Anglican Church. He is survived by his wife, June Gurriell Leach to whom he was married for 68 years; daughter Wendy L. Pack of Mount Holly; son, Thomas S. Leach of Morehead City; granddaughter Courtney Pack of Belmont. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene Leach; son, George Howard Leach; and grandson, Shaun Christopher Leach. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service.
