George Falkenberg

Obituary George E. Falkenberg, 98, of Morehead City, died Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Crystal Bluffs Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. No services are scheduled. Mr. Falkenberg was born February 10, 1916, in Chicago, IL to George and Esther Falkenberg. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II as a flight instructor. He married Olga Succola in San Antonio, TX on October 16, 1943. He worked for Sherman-Williams his whole life, from age 16 until 1971. His last position was as a General Manager of Pigments, Colors, Chemicals, and Textile Dyes, at the Greensboro, NC plant. They retired to Carteret County in 1971. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl F. Spangler, of Morehead City; two grandchildren, Melissa Spangler Valentino of Hendersonville, TN and Geoffrey James Spangler of Arendtsville, PA; four great-grandchildren, Renzo Franco Valentino of Hendersonville, TN, Marcello Emiliano Valentino of Hendersonville, TN, Dutch Ivy Spangler of Arendtsville, PA, and Major Killian Spangler of Arendtsville, PA. In addition to his wife and parents, his Aunt Ruth Alexander, Aunt Florence Ferm, and Aunt Ethel Lees, who raised him following his parents deaths, preceded him in death.
