Obituary George Edward Coombs, Jr., 89, of Morehead City died Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Carteret Health Care. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, at Brooks Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dennis Evans and the Rev. Bob Lowrey officiating. The interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. He was born on April 5, 1926 in Upland, PA to George Edward and Mary McCrystal Coombs. Mr. Coombs served in the United States Navy and was a joiner foreman in ship construction for the Hopeman Brothers Company. He is survived by his wife, Maria Coombs; son, George E. Coombs, III of Hong Kong his wife Ame and grandson, Jonathan Lee Coombs, son Jerry Coombs, spouse Bryan Brandt of Fairview Heights, Illinois. and daughter in-law, Joy Ellen Coombs of Morehead City. In addition to his parents, his first wife, Jeanne Marie Coombs, and sister, Dorothy Kane, preceded him in death.
