Obituary Gene Paul Wallace 83, of Havelock, died Monday, August 10, 2015, at home. A memorial service, with Military Honors and Masonic Rites, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015, at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Harlowe, with the Rev. Kelli Sorg officiating. Mr. Wallace was born May 2, 1932, in Washington, NC to Thad Marion and Pearl Tetterton Wallace. He served his country in the United States Air Force for over 22 years. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant and participated in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. Mr. Wallace then worked at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point for 6 years. He is survived by his daughter, Paula Amyx, and her husband, Larry, of Vacaville, CA; a son, Gene Paul Wallace, Jr., of Irmo, CA; 3 grandchildren, Chris Amyx, Brittany Wallace and Kristen Wallace and 6 great grandchildren, Madelyn, Krystian, Kaleb, Noah, Parker and Tori. In addition to his parents, his wife, Mattie Marie Norris Wallace, preceded him in death. The family will receive friends at Oak Grove United Methodist Church from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Genes name to the American Cancer Society, 2202 Wrightsville Avenue, Suite 111, Wilmington, NC 28403, or to your favorite charity.
