Gary Maxwell

Obituary Gary Lee Maxwell, 70, of Newport, died Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Carteret Health Care. A graveside service with military honors will take place at the Gales Creek Cemetery in Newport, at 10:00 a.m., Saturday July 23, 2016, with Rev. Tom Supplee pastor of St. James United Methodist Church officiating. Mr. Maxwell was born in Galloway West Virginia to Fred and Francis Maxwell. He retired from the U.S. Marines Corps as a Master Gunnery Sergeant after 28 years of service. He is survived by; daughters, Regina Pickett of Norman, OK, Monica Capps of Cape Carteret, Laura Maxwell of Long Beach, CA, Brenda Maxwell of Newport, Dorthea Foss of Jacksonville; brothers Daniel Maxwell of PA, and Stanley Maxwell, of Newport; and 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, his wife of 46 years Tana Kay Maxwell preceded him in death.
