Gary Len Newell

Obituary Gary Len Newell, 64, of Swansboro, was received into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Noe-Brooks Funeral Home in Morehead City. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm at Gethsemane Memorial Park in Newport. Following the service, the family will receive visitors at their home in Swansboro. Gary was born in Wayne County to the late Wesley Brock Newell and Dorothy Davis Newell on August 6,1957. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Anderson. Gary had a huge heart and will be best remembered for being hardworking, loving, and one of the toughest men around. He spent many years working as a skilled heavy equipment mechanic, working on motors loving the smell of racing fuel, and all things drag racing. Those closest to him looked up to him for his handy-man skills, being able to fix anything and having a knack for predicting the weather with accuracy. He loved his family with all his heart and would drop whatever he was doing to help those he loved the most. No one cooked a pig better than Gary. He loved the ocean, and was known for always being on time, which meant he was early. He enjoyed strolls on the golf cart with his special canine companion, Bandit. Family was the greatest joy of Garys life. Gary will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandpa. Gary is survived by his wife of 45 years, Susan Chase Newell, his son Wesley Len Newell and wife Ashley Ardis Newell of Swansboro, two beloved granddaughters Haley and MaKinley Newell, his sister Wanda Holland and husband, Ronnie, his brother Billy Newell and wife, Doris, his brother Dale Newell and wife, Gail, his brother in law, Paul Anderson, and many sibling in laws, nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
