Obituary Frederick Joseph Woelkers, Jr., 89, of Morehead City, died Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at Carteret General Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 11, 2014, at St. Egbert Catholic Church, with Monsignor Francis Moeslein and Rev. Thomas R. Davis, officiating. Mr. Woelkers was born September 11, 1924, in Detroit, MI, to Frederick Joseph Woelkers and Mae Katherine Wiegand Woelkers. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He is a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He is survived by his wife, Sally Ann Smith Woelkers, of Morehead City NC; 15 children, Frederick J. Woelkers, III, of Seward, AK, Elsie M. Spencer of Morehead City NC, Roland C. Woelkers of Marine City, MI, Michael F. Woelkers of Bellingham, WA, Stephen M. Woelkers of Pittsburgh, PA, Joseph F. Woelkers, of Tyler, TX, Peter N. Woelkers of Great Falls, MT, David A. Woelkers of Brighton, MI, Mary S. Shaw of Virginia Beach, VA, Timothy M. Woelkers, of Ray Twp, MI, William G. Woelkers of Chicago, IL, Elizabeth A. McCreedy of Detroit, MI, Ann M. Maier of Deadwood, SD, CDR Gerard J. Woelkers USN stationed in-Landstuhl--Germany and Christopher S.Woelkers of Greenville NC; a brother, Robert Woelkers of Southgate, MI; a sister, Helene Williams of Port Charlotte, FL: Spouses of children, 35 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, a brother, John Woelkers, preceded him in death. A Reception of the Body and Visitation, will be held Sunday evening, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a Christian Wake Service beginning at 6:30 p.m. at St. Egbert Catholic Church.
