Fayleen Nelson

Obituary Fayleen Nelson, 54, of Pine Knoll Shores, died Thursday, April 9, 2015, at home. A memorial service will be held 2 PM, Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Unitarian Coastal Fellowship, 1300 Evans Street, Morehead City, with the Rev. Sally B. White, officiating. Fayleen was born on October 19, 1960, in Boston, MA, to John Francis ONeill and Cicily Kelleher ONeill, the fifth child of seven. Fay triumphed over incredible struggles during her early years, and raised her children with love, teaching them with humor, demonstrating strength through imitation, and instilling respect for others by her kindness and selflessness. Fays true happiness began 25 years ago when she met her husband Wayne. They were married in Harborview Nursing Home so that her patients could attend. In her last six months after her Cancer was diagnosed, Fay determined to do one fun thing every day, and she did. Fay taught us to bless every day we have, and look for the miracles that are waiting for us. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Nelson of Pine Knoll Shores; 4 children, Angeline Ross of Fort Walton Beach, FL, James Taylor of Columbus, GA, William Taylor of Morehead City, and Marie-Faye Bitzas of Rocklin, CA; 3 sisters, Coleen Clark of Beaufort, Eileen Caya of Pensacola, FL, and Elizabeth Haney of Woodstock, GA; 4 grandchildren, Caitlin, Stella, William and Caiden. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Kathleen Schaffer and and Maureen Lisota; and brother, Dennis ONeill.
