Obituary Evelyn Guthrie Willis, 93, of Beaufort, died Sunday, November 15, 2015, at Brookdale, Morehead City, NC. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Carteret Memorial Gardens, Hwy 101, Beaufort, NC, with Rev. Curtis Going officiating. Mrs. Willis was born on Harkers Island on November 26, 1921, to Billie and Gertrude Whitley Guthrie. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Willard Preston Willis; daughter, Rachel K. Willis, of Holly Springs; grandson, John Christian Hunt, and his wife, Laurie; and 3 great grandchildren, Noah, Jacob and Garcyn. She is also survived by her nephews, Larry Kemp Styron, and his wife, Dawn, and Grayden Styron and his wife, Nettie Lou and William Ashton Styron; and niece, Anna Styron Meador. In addition to her parents, her sister, Hazel Guthrie Styron preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2418 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 206, Raleigh, NC 27607.
